A budding feud, a romantic city, an enemies-to-lovers theme. These are classic ingredients for a romantic comedy that audiences love to love and sometimes hate. In Mark Steven Johnson’s latest feature, “l’amore trova una via” or “love finds a way” when a booking error forces two strangers to share a villa in the city of love: Verona, Italy. Love in the Villa adapts recognizable elements like most rom-coms, including two gorgeous leads, excellent chemistry, and an entertaining journey of love for an unlikely pair.Love in the Villa 2022 Full Movie Download
While it doesn’t break any genre barriers, Love in the Villa has the right amount of levity and romance, even when the story becomes unrealistic.Julie (Kat Graham), third grade teacher, planner, and romantic at heart, has been preparing for a vacation to Verona, Italy with her boyfriend of four years, Brandon (Raymond Ablack), for a long time. After an abrupt breakup, Julie decides to venture off to the city of love solo, still ready to explore the many items on her itinerary. Things don’t go as planned for Julie. After her turbulent flight to Italy, the airport loses her luggage. To make matters worse, Julie learns that her reserved villa is already occupied by the charming yet cynical Charlie (Tom Hopper). Not only will she have to share the villa with the pessimistic British stranger, but Julie will also have to endure a long game of roommate wars. It’s silly to expect a romantic comedy to contain even a modicum of realism, but Love in the Villa is the kind of film that somewhat requires it. Unfortunately, Johnson’s feature takes too many unrealistic turns to fully enjoy what the film has to offer. Within the first fifteen minutes, for example, Julie hops in a car with a total stranger (and unverified ride service) and she leaves her bag unprotected as she promenades along the streets of Verona. These aren’t realistic experiences of a solo female traveler, which pinpoints one of the biggest inherent problems of the script. There’s no accurate representation of a woman’s perspective, and the story could have truly benefited from one.
