Kooman: The Night Rider (transl. Owl: The Night Rider) is a 2022 Indian Malayalam-language mystery thriller film directed by Jeethu Joseph[1][2] and jointly produced by Listin Stephen and Allwin Antony through Magic Frames and Ananya Films, with a screenplay by K. R. Krishna Kumar.[3] The film stars Asif Ali, with Renji Panicker, Jaffar Idukki, Baiju, Baburaj, Riyas Narmakala, Hannah Reji Koshy, Jayan Cherthala, Pauly Valsan, Nandu, Meghanathan, Ramesh Thilak and George Maryan. The original background score and a song were composed by Vishnu Shyam. Principal photography began in February 2022. Kooman was released on 4 November 2022.The story takes place in a hilly village on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. The village has people of different cultures from both states. The story is about a strict police officer who relocates there and the subsequent events that turn his and many others’ lives upside down associated with that police station. The story starts with a smart constable in police with ego issues.[5] Few normal incidents happen in the village, and some from the past suddenly appear to be abnormal. The film gears up to a gripping thriller as the secrets slowly start unfolding.[6]The makers started the principle photography on 24 February 2022 with the switch-on ceremony.[8] It took 32 days to complete the shoot.
