StoryLine:

Several young girls line up against a wall in a bright white hallway to apply a face cream in front of a camera, located above a sink. They are allotted a specific time to complete the action. One girl, Sophia, drops her face cream and is unable to find it because she is near-sighted. Her best friend Vivien is about to clean her face at the sink, but stops to help Sophia and in doing so outruns the time limit. An alarm sounds and the other girls silently face the wall as guards appear to drag the screaming Vivien away. Level Sixteen 2018 full Movie

The girls live in an isolated, artificially lit and windowless boarding school, in which great emphasis is placed on being ‘clean’. They start by living on level 0 as babies, and as they grow older, move up to higher floors. Sixteen-year-old girls are the oldest in the school, living on level 16. Throughout their lives, they are schooled in health, home skills and etiquette, avoiding ‘vices’ like curiosity and anger, and living in constant fear of being seen as ‘unclean’. They are not taught to read or write, and warned that the outside air is toxic. Their lives are strictly disciplined, run with military precision (with particular importance to applying face cream and taking vitamins) and they are warned unclean behaviour will result in an unknown ‘punishment’. Vivien is the ‘top girl’ on level 16 and severely reprimands the others for even considering breaking the rules.

Sophia warns Vivien not to take the daily vitamins. Vivien initially brushes her off, but then decides to follow Sophia’s advice when she sees the normally white pill is now blue. The girls are given white dresses with their names on, and told to wear them to bed. The blue pills are revealed to be sleeping pills, and Vivien and Sophia, lying awake, see the guards taking girls out of the room. The girls pretend to be asleep while Vivien and another girl, Olivia, are taken and laid on beds in a furnished lounge.
