Sergeant,’ written and directed by Prawaal Raman, is a mystery drama that immediately immerses viewers in a world of suspense and intrigue. The film follows protagonist Nikhil Sharma’s (Randeep Hooda) tireless quest for truth, even after his leg is amputated, forcing him to work from a desk rather than on the field. Raman skillfully manages to create an engaging atmosphere for the viewers throughout the 106-minute length. Although the concept is well-crafted and the performers are outstanding, this mystery drama falls short in execution. The screenplay is slow-paced, but the suspense builds gradually, maintaining the tension throughout the film. In contrast, the conclusion feels rushed, with everything tied up in the last couple of minutes.Sergeant 2023 Movie Download
The subplot of Nikhil’s ongoing feud with his father (Arun Govil), whom he blames for his mother’s death, and Inspector Haider Ali (Adil Hussain), whomhe blames for getting his position despite being physically unfit, becomes tiresome after a while.Randeep Hooda simply stands out in the film, and his commanding screen presence provides dimension to his character Sergeant Nikhil. He effortlessly conveys Nikhil’s wrath and emotional anguish following the loss of his mother and leg in an accident. However, the use of a foreign accent by Hooda appears fake and is disappointingly used too often. The supporting cast, including Arun Govil as Nikhil’s father, Adil Hussain as Inspector Haider Ali, and Sapna Pabbi as Nikhil’s love interest Monica, deliver commendable performances, each bringing their own distinct flavour to the plot. The film’s setting in London is effectively captured through Jim Edgar’s cinematography, particularly in showcasing the city’s alleys. The top-notch production design enhances the authenticity of the drama, and the meaningful songs, such as “Thak Gaye Kadam,” contribute to the narrative and intensify its impact. To conclude, despite its shortcomings in execution, Randeep Hooda’s outstanding performance and compelling narrative make ‘Sergeant’ an interesting viewing.
