Much before its release, the expectations for this multi-starrer were already high. Touted as a first-of-its-kind venture among the current crop of films, ‘Shamanthakamani’ begins with Krishna (Sudheer Babu) filing a complaint about his stolen car with the cops.Soon Circle Inspector Ranjith (Naara Rohith) is assigned to crack the case and the rest of the characters – Karthik (Aadi Saikumar), who wants to impress Madhu (Chandini Chowdary), Siva (Sundeep Kishan), and Rajendra Prasad, as a mechanic trying to impress a widow (Indraja) – get introduced.The plot takes a turn when all of them meet in a posh hotel in Hyderabad for a party. By now, the audience has been dropped clues that every character has something to do with the disappearance of Shamanthakamani.

The simple plot has offered vast scopes to director Sriram Adittya, who debuted with Sudheer Babu’s ‘Bhale Manchi Roju’, to play around with the screenplay and keep the audience glues to their seats. The narration is crisp with a runtime of 127 minutes. Absence of melodrama and songs would get a big thumps up from those who like out-of-the-box stories.In terms of its execution too, the crew has done a decent job and the performances of the cast is definitely worth a mention. Rajendra Prasad gets some brownie points for looking young and charming sharing the screen with the new-age actors. Yesteryear actors Kousalya and Indraja too gave their best within their scope.
