Sujata Sengupta (Swastika Mukherjee) blows apart her cherished house of cards with a devilish smirk. The ongoing lockdown remains just a catalyst. In her intimate world, Sujata identifies situations, people with scents. From petrichor to mother-in-law’s presence and absence, and husband’s extramarital relationship — she allots odours to every twist and turn, trough and crest of her life. That is Tasher Ghawr in a nutshell.Tasher Ghawr 2020 Movie Download.
The film is a little longer than a typical short film and that, in a way, is its strength. Verbose that it is, a longer run time could have been a bane. Along the way, it does a decent job of detailing the ordinariness of a housewife, Sujata. Apart from her own words, running into monologues, Sujata doesn’t like any clamour around her. But with the lockdown, there is a pressing sound of her husband. He is a constant and at times, an ominous presence, evoking horrid memories and Sujata becomes the ‘girl interrupted’.
Tasher Ghawr essentially is all about Swastika. She is remarkable in the last few shots. While her attempts at creating a monotonous life is mostly convincing, she remains somewhat unconvincing at the beginning, with her animated description of her husband’s gluttony. The film is a collage of some beautiful indoor shots. Sujata’s kitchen garden, birdfeeder, pale curtains and every little touch of loneliness and isolation is beautifully shot. The music is subliminal and soothing. Amar Kono Golpo Nei — the number that the actress has crooned — encapsulates the film fleetingly.Tasher Ghawr, is an audacious attempt at bringing down the ‘fourth wall,’ the imagined, invisible wall in cinema and theatre, between the performers and the audience.
