A campus drama is a hotbed of activity and ‘Jugaadistan’ is a show made to show it all, once again. From campus romance and student politics to a major examination scam, this one packs everything in eight long episodes that are easy to binge on. It starts slowly but gradually we start getting invested into the lives of the students, who are at the center of all the action, unfolding on and off the campus. There are way too many characters and subplots, which is a major dampener, as well. Because it’s hard to make sense of why and what so many of them are doing in a show that sometimes seems to be all over the place.Jugaadistan Season 1 Download
It helps to focus on a few interesting tracks that thankfully also take the centre stage. Among them is Ruhi Sada (Rukshar Dhillon), a geeky class topper, who gets drawn into the life of easy money by posing as different students to appear for them at state level exams. Her partner-in-crime Lucky (Taaruk Raina) is also her crush, who is a typical college playboy, who is into all kinds of shady businesses. This contrast in characters make them a perfect match but it doesn’t have the approval of Ruhi’s best friend Aarti (Himika Bose). It’s most fun when the three of them are on screen. There is also Sumeet Vyas as Gaurav Bhati, the student leader, who is also a big bully. Vyas is very repetitive and brings nothing new to the table. Ahsaas Channa is not totally unconvincing as as the budding journalist Ayesha Rehman. Parambrata Chattopadhyay is the handsome college professor Bijoy, whose track has some genuine depth and the actor looks dapper in the role. There are many other characters that are clichés we have seen a zillion times before in campus dramas and while ‘Jugaadistan’ tackles a lesser explored subject of a particular exam scam, it doesn’t come across as too novel.
