What is magic realism anyway? Perhaps it is a real-life tale that is dotted with magic. Rajlokhi O Srikanto weaves in that magic seamlessly. In David Lynch’s Blue Velvet, Jeffrey (Kyle MacLachlan) discovers a severed ear in a field. According to many, that moment marked the loss of Jeffrey’s innocence. Rajlokhi O Srikanto is a constant reminder of Lynch’s cult film. Like Jefferey, Srikanto digs out skeletons with his Indrada as innocence falls away from him inconspicuously.Srikanto Season 1 Download
Rajlokhi O Srikanto is Pradipta’s interpretation of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s iconic novel. However, it becomes a wholesome, independent film under the director’s craftsmanship. From beautiful frames captured by Subhadip Dey to Satyaki Banerjee’s background music and powerful performances by all the actors and actresses — there is little room for complaint. Evidently, Pradipta took time and cherished every moment of making the film.Srikankto’s (Ritwick Chakraborty) youth and adulthood go hand in hand. In their coming of age, Srikanto (Soham Moitra) and Indranath (Sayan Ghosh) steal fish, dig out skeletons, smoke up and roam through beaches inebriated. Annadadidi (Aparajita Ghosh Das) asks them to stay away from sly, cruel and slimy Shahuji. Today’s grown up Srikanto still follows Indrada’s mantra, ‘Bhoy pash na Srikanto’, and doesn’t gives two hoots about making money or settling down in life. He gives up his corporate job and goes to stay with Hukumchand (Rahul) — the new Sahuji-like character in his life. Piyari (Jyotika Jyoti) is Hukum’s ‘kept’. She is also Srikanto’s Rajlokhi (young Rajlokhi is beautifully played by Gargi Maji).Srikankto’s (Ritwick Chakraborty) youth and adulthood go hand in hand.
