Ted Bundy: Falling for a Killer is a 2020 American true crime docuseries that premiered on Amazon Prime Video on January 30, 2020.[1] The 5-part miniseries was created and directed by Trish Wood.[2] Many viewers who rated the film praised its emphasis on victims, while some objected to its focus on the feminist movement. The incorporation of feminist critique and social contextualization is akin to that seen in later episodes of the Netflix crime docuseries, The Ripper.Ted Bundy: Falling for a Killer recounts the murders, trials and execution of serial killer Ted Bundy from the perspective of his long-time girlfriend Elizabeth Kendall and her daughter, Molly. The series uses archival footage and photographs as well as interviews with victims who survived his attacks, police, reporters and others involved in the cases. The first episode, Boy Meets Girl, begins with a bold statement: “This story has been told many times by men. Now’s the time to talk about our own story from beginning to end,” says Elizabeth Kendall, who has mostly avoided the spotlight since publishing The Phantom Prince in 1981. Other voices, all female, firmly and calmly embellish Elizabeth’s statement: Bundy’s story is seen as “great entertainment.” It always discounts women. It always focuses on the famously charming sociopath, not his dozens of victims, who were all women. This is the only reason this awful story should be visited yet again.Ted Bundy: Falling for a Killer Season 1 Download
Perhaps you’ve noticed: This is Wood throwing down the gauntlet. From there, the episode proceeds primarily chronologically. Elizabeth narrates her own story: She grew up in Utah, the youngest in a conservative Mormon family. She was always shy. While in college, she gave birth to Molly, the product of a short-lived marriage. In 1969, she packed up her baby daughter and moved to Seattle, where she worked as a secretary at the University of Washington, a hub of the feminist movement. One night at a bar, Elizabeth met Ted Bundy. They danced. She’d had a few drinks, so he gave her a ride home. She woke the next morning in her clothes, and found him in the kitchen making breakfast and entertaining baby Molly.
